Our Service Philosophy

At our Kindergarten, relationships are at the heart of everything we do. We believe that children thrive when they feel safe, respected, valued and connected, and we are committed to creating a warm, nurturing and inclusive environment where every child and family experiences a genuine sense of belonging. Child safety is a fundamental priority that underpins all aspects of our practice, and we are commited to fostering a culture where children are supported to actively participate in decisions that affect them. We recognise families as children's first and most important teachers. We value the trust families place in us and are committed to building strong partnerships through open communication, mutual respect and shared decision-making. Together, we create the best possible outcomes for children and celebrate the unique contributions that every family brings to our community. As a community-based kindergarten, we are proud of our strong connections with local schools, organisations and support services. These relationships enrich our children's learning, support successful transitions and strengthen children's sense of connectedness within the wider Lockyer Valley community. We are passionate about inclusion and believe that every child has the right to participate, achieve and belong. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating environments where children feel accepted, supported and empowered to be themselves. We are also committed to fostering respect for the natural environment and embedding sustainable practices into everyday learning, empowering children to develop an appreciation for nature and a sense of responsibility as active contributors to a sustainable future. Through our commitment to child safety, wellbeing and equity, we advocate for every child's right to be heard, protected and respected. We see each child as a capable, curious and unique individual with their own strengths, interests, ideas and ways of learning. We believe childhood is a time to play, wonder, explore and discover., and that through meaningful play-based experiences, children develop confidence, creativity, resilience, independence and the social and emotional skills that form the foundation for lifelong learning. We value children's voices and believe they should be active participants in their learning and kindergarten experience. By listening to our children, following their interests and providing opportunities for choice and decision-making, we empower them to develop a strong sense of identity, agency and belonging. What makes Gatton Kindy truly special is our people. Our dedicated team brings passion, experience, professionalism and genuine care to their work each day. Together, we foster a culture of kindness, collaboration, reflection and continuous improvement. We believe that by working together—children, families, educators and community—we create a place where children are happy, confident and inspired to learn. Guided by our values of Respect, Inclusion, Belonging, Collaboration, Creativity and Independence, we strive to create a kindergarten where every child is known and safe, every family is valued and respected, and every day is filled with opportunities to learn, grow and flourish

Our kindergarten program focuses on developing confident, capable, and independent learners. Through play-based learning, guided experiences, and daily routines, children are supported to build the skills they need for a successful transition to school.

Our kindergarten program is guided by the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guideline (QKLG), the National Quality Framework (NQF), and the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF). We believe children learn best through play, enjoyment, freedom, and friendship, and we are committed to providing opportunities that nurture each child's self-esteem, creativity, and development at their own pace.

Families and educators play an important role in supporting children's growth. By encouraging independence at home and providing opportunities for children to practise everyday skills, we can help build confidence and readiness for the exciting transition to school. Our learning environment is thoughtfully designed to encourage exploration, problem-solving, physical development, and collaborative play, providing children with opportunities to challenge themselves, build resilience, and develop confidence in their abilities.

Our educators make learning visible by documenting and sharing children's experiences throughout the year through online platforms and individual art portfolios. Documentation is a valuable way to capture learning, thinking, and growth, creating meaningful opportunities for children, families, and educators to reflect together. Each child's portfolio, kept in their classroom and available to view at any time, records their learning journey and encourages them to revisit past experiences, celebrate their achievements, and reflect on their thinking.

Families are warmly encouraged to contribute, helping to create a rich record of each child's progress and skill development in areas such as literacy, numeracy, social development, and wellbeing throughout the year. Through strong partnerships between families and educators, we create a supportive learning community where every child feels valued, capable, and empowered to reach their full potential.
